May 4, 2021 YOUNGSTOWN Derek G. Rinehart, 28, of East Florida Avenue in Sebring, pleaded guilty Monday to attempted aggravated arson, intimidation, inducing panic and obstructing official business for a January 2020 incident in which he threatened to set his grandmother’s house on fire. Rinehart will be sentenced 10:30 a.m. May 18. Police successfully removed Rinehart from the home after about five hours of police negotiations. Several streets had to be closed after Rinehart made the threats and refused to come out. Rinehart told police he had a weapon and had poured gasoline on the floor. His attorney, Thomas Zena, sought a sanity evaluation a year ago. ....
[email protected] LISBON Tyree DeShaun Robinson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the overdose death of Joseph Robert Urgitus on Tuesday morning, even through Robinson pointed out during the hearing in Common Pleas Court he had never met Urgitus. Robinson, 26, of Youngstown, had been scheduled for a jury trial this week before deciding to plead guilty to the only charge he faced, a first-degree felony involuntary manslaughter. Chief Assistant County Prosecutor Ryan Weikart said both witnesses and text messages link Robinson to the death of Urgitus. During Tuesday’s plea hearing, Assistant County Prosecutor Alec Beech told Judge Megan Bickerton that Robinson sold Urgitus a mixture of both crack cocaine and heroin on March 6, 2019. At the time of the arrest, investigators believed the drugs also may have contained fentanyl. ....

James, 35, the Akron man who refused to stop for law enforcement two years ago while driving a stolen vehicle in the Salem area, was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday by Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton. A week ago, James pleaded guilty to three counts of fourth-degree assault, including one that had been amended from a first-degree felony to the fourth-degree felony. Those charges were for causing or attempting to cause harm to Sgt. Benjamin Dennison and Trooper Drew Thomas, both of the highway patrol, and to Patrolman John Brooks of the Salem Police Department. ....
