Praful Patel to hold talks with groups to reach a settlement Fresh trouble is brewing in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), somewhat a sequel to the pre-poll tangle, with former Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran and newly elected legislator Thomas K. Thomas staking claim for Ministerial birth in the Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet.
As the dispute is snowballing in the State unit, the party Central leadership has deputed its national general secretary Praful Patel, MP, to hold discussions with the warring groups on May 18. He will also meet Mr. Vijayan.

Kerala Transport Minister Thomas Chandy on Wednesday submitted his resignation after facing land encroachment allegations.
Earlier, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that the cabinet did not had a discussion on Thomas Chandy s issue. But, he said that NCP will discuss the issue with their central leaders and inform their decision.
“The cabinet didn t discuss Thomas Chandy s issue. Today I had a discussion with Thomas Chandy and NCP s TP Peethambaran. NCP will discuss it with their central leaders and inform their decision,” said Vijayan.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] State secretariat which met at the AKG Centre in the State capital on Tuesday weighed the induction of new faces from among its legislators.
Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) national president P.A. Mohammed Riyas, who won from the Beypore Assembly segment, stands a reasonable chance of representing the district in the State Cabinet.
He will become the 3rd CM in Kerala to be re-elected and 1st to continue in office after a full term. He will also assume heftier stature than anyone else in CPM
