TANZANIA (eTN) – Tanzania’s most renowned tourism marketing executive, Peter Mwenguo, who passed away from heart failure last Monday was laid to eternal rest in the capital of Dar es Salaam on Thursday after a well-attended requiem mass held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in the city.
Recognized as the most popular tourism marketing and promotion guru in Tanzania and Africa, Mr. Mwenguo managed to place Tanzania in the present world tourism map during his tenure in office as the Managing Director of the Tanzania Tourist Board, which was established under the Act of Parliament of 1993, which formed the Tourist Board to replace the once Tanzania Tourist Corporation.
Israeli business executives are set to participate a two-day forum in Tanzania early next week to chart out cooperation areas for investment in which Tanzania and the State of Israel would venture.
Scheduled to take place in Tanzania’s commercial capital, Dar es Salaam on Monday and Tuesday next week, the Tanzania Israel Business and Investment Forum (TIBIF) will attract investments in tourism which Israel companies have been looking to capture since the past two years.
The forum is expected to bring together more than 50 investors, prominent business owners, entrepreneurs, government officials and private sector executives from both Tanzania and Israel.

Mid last year, former tourism minister of Zimbabwe Walter Mzembi encouraged people in Africa to spend their holidays and weekends in wildlife parks where “natural social distancing” is observed.
Dr Mzembi defended his argument during a Zoom meeting saying that national parks or wildlife parks in Southern and East Africa were the safest areas free from coronavirus infections.
Last month, I visited three national parks in Northern Tanzania to test Dr Mzembi’s argument.

THE Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) is in talks with a marketing agency in North America in its latest initiative to promote the country as a safe destination amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
