E VERY DAY many groggy Jordanians are woken by the sound of Beethoven blasted down the street. Trucks selling gas cylinders drive around playing a tinny electronic version of “Für Elise” in the early hours of the morning, alerting customers in the style of an ice-cream van. Residents in need of gas flag down the van when they hear the sound. Some consider the gas-truck music a part of Jordanian life’s rich soundtrack. Others think it is noise pollution. After complaints about the noise, the government and the fuel syndicate agreed to replace the honking with “a relaxing kind of music”, says Hussein Allaboun, head of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission. ....
March sees increase in fuel derivative prices By JT - Mar 01,2021 - Last updated at Mar 01,2021 AMMAN The government’s fuel pricing committee on Sunday decided to raise the prices of a number of fuel derivatives for March. The price of one litre of unleaded 90-octane gasoline went up from JD0.730 in February to JD0.760 in March, according to an Energy Ministry statement. The price per litre of unleaded 95-octane gasoline has been increased to JD0.980 in March compared with JD0.945 in February. The price of diesel will see a hike of JD0.03 in March to sell at JD0.555, while the price of one litre of kerosene, under a previous Cabinet decision, will remain unchanged at JD0.460 per litre and the price of gas cylinders, as usual, remains at JD7. ....

This project, financed with 1.8 million euros by the European Union’s Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation (INSC), gave support to three Jordanian institutions, the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC), the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) and the Ministry of Environment (MOENV), according to a statement posted on the website of the Delegation of the European Union to Jordan. ....
