NORTH PROVIDENCE – The Town Council approved a series of moves to make way for a new three-building commercial development at the Lucky Cottage property at 1601 Mineral Spring Ave. during a special meeting last week, calling it a “great project” for the town. Representatives for Mike Grieco and 1601 Mineral Spring Associates said this project will not only be a great shot in the arm in reviving a blighted property as a center of commerce, but will be a step toward wider efforts to improve the look of the Mineral Spring Avenue corridor, where they said there continues to be far too much asphalt and far too little landscaping along the roadway. ....

5/18/2021 Protesters unhappy with animal shelter inaction Several dozen vocal North Providence residents held a “North Providence Needs A New Shelter Peaceful Show of Support” rally along Mineral Spring Avenue on Sunday afternoon to demonstrate and advocate for a new animal shelter in the town. Demonstrators were not shy about placing the blame for the delayed shelter on the shoulders of the town’s elected officials.
