Article content Saskatchewan’s streak of landing canola crush investments continued on Tuesday, as a fourth company announced plans for a multi-million-dollar project in the province. Minnesota-based Ceres Global Ag announced a $350 million integrated canola crush facility slated for Northgate, near the U.S. border in southeast Saskatchewan. It will have capacity to crush 1.1 million metric tonnes of canola annually, and refine 500,000 metric tonnes into oil for food and fuel. Article content Cargill is planning to spend $350 million to build a canola crusher in the Regina area, an investment expected to create 50 full-time jobs and process one million metric tonnes of seed each year. The American agri-food company announced the plan on Thursday, though it hasn’t yet chosen a site. It expects to begin construction early next year, with the facility in operation by early 2024. In an interview, Cargill president Jeff Vassart said the crusher will be located within an hour of the city, but without encroaching too close on residential neighbourhoods.
