Bergman claims racism s supporters have caused the violent deaths . the death of a policeman [Brian Sicknick] defending Congress on Jan. 6. There has been no evidence yet provided that Officer Sicknick suffered a violent death. He was not struck by a fire extinguisher and appears to have suffered a medical emergency later that day.

My Take: This time is different


The tension between equal treatment under the law and inequity caused by racism is a dominant theme of American history. Racism’s supporters have caused the violent deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans, from the first slave beaten to death to the death of a policeman defending Congress on Jan. 6. 
During colonial times, the conflicting ideas of racism and equal treatment under the law became deeply embedded into our collective psyche. These opposite ideas animated Jefferson, a slave owner who justified our revolution with the self-evident truth that all men are created equal. Both ideas were at the table during the Constitutional Convention in 1787 when compromises helped create a republic known as the USA. The two have been at odds ever since, each claiming to be America. Equality and racism are antithetical.  ....
