Two upcoming vaccination clinics co-sponsored by the Philadelphia Archdiocese are designed specifically for those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
On May 1, the archdiocesan Office for Persons with Disabilities and the Deaf Apostolate will team up with the City of Philadelphia and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide the Pfizer COVID-19 jab at the Esperanza Community Vaccination Center, located at 4261 North 5th Street in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia.
Pre-registration for the appointments, which are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., can be made at https://cw2-philadelphia-pa-production.herokuapp.com/reg/0467251999. Second shots will be given at the same site on May 22.

As the pandemic passes the one-year mark, many are taking stock of COVID’s impact to date – and for one archdiocesan agency, some of that data adds up to thousands of reasons for hope.
To wrap up National Volunteer Week (April 18-24), Catholic Human Services (CHS) honored 25 “partners in mission” with an April 23 online celebration. The individuals represented 4,090 volunteers who provided a combined total of 95,911 service hours to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s charitable works in the five-county area during 2020.

An archdiocesan employee has been recognized by a local university for his commitment to those affected by poverty, homelessness and intellectual disabilities.
Kevin Barr of Catholic Social Services (CSS) recently received the “Spirit of St. Francis and Clare of Assisi Award” from Neumann University. The honor is annually bestowed on a graduate who lives out Catholic, Franciscan values by promoting human dignity, intercultural understanding, peacemaking or care for the environment.

Seniors feel ‘free at last’ thanks to vaccination clinic

Dozens of seniors received their first dose of COVID vaccinations last week, thanks to a partnership between the Philadelphia Archdiocese and a local community health organization.
Catholic Housing and Community Services (CHCS) teamed up with the nonprofit Philadelphia FIGHT to host a March 10 on-site vaccination clinic CHCS’s St. Edmond Senior Community Center in the city’s Point Breeze section.
