Charlotte Talks went live in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in the weeks before the coronavirus pandemic sent the crew into remote mode for the remainder of 2020.
Charlotte Talks has been a staple in the region for 22 years. But host Mike Collins and the team of producers have never faced a year like 2020. Like most operations at WFAE, the team switched to a (nearly) all-remote setup after the coronavirus pandemic started spreading through the Carolinas.
Collins and producers shifted gears to cover the usual assortment of interesting topics plus the pressing issues of the day, including the pandemic, the economic crisis, the protests over police brutality and systemic racism, the roller coaster that was Charlotte s Republican National Convention experience and, of course, the 2020 election. ....

Charlotte rockers Fetchin Bones’ heyday was in the 1980s, but for years, lead singer Hope Nicholls had nagging feelings of unfinished business manifesting in a recurring dream about a forgotten song. Well, Nicholls, who’s now in the band It’s Snakes, and her husband, former Fetchin Bones member Aaron Pitkin, found the song and a few others on long-forgotten demo tapes. And after 32 years, Fetchin Bones dropped new (well, old but new) music. “Maybe the dreams will stop now,” Nicholls said. ....
