Commander of the Navy reviews final day of CONEX-21
The third edition of Colombo Naval Exercise -2021 (CONEX-21), hosted by Sri Lanka Navy, concluded on successful note on 10th February 2021. Meanwhile, the final day exercises of CONEX – 21 held in seas off Colombo for the third consecutive day were subjected to the review of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.
The Navy had deployed 04 Offshore Patrol Vessels, 02 Fast Missile Vessels, 02 Bay Class Coastal Patrol Vessels, 01 Fast Gun Boat and 08 Fast Attack Craft from 04th Fast Attack Flotilla for the exercise. Apart from that, 03 ships from Sri Lanka Coast Guard as well as MI 17, Bell 412 and 212 helicopters and an observation aircraft, B - 200 King Air from Sri Lanka Air Force had also been deployed for this year’s exercise. ....

Colombo (News 1st);  The official launching of Colombo Naval Exercise -2021 (CONEX-21), conducted by Sri Lanka Navy for the third consecutive year, was marked onboard Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Sayurala at the port of Colombo today (07th February 2021).
The exercise is scheduled to be held in seas off Colombo from 08th to 10th of this month. Naval Fleet Command is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the exercise and smooth execution of the planned serials in next three days.
Met with much success over the past two years (2019 and 2020), the naval exercise propelled into its third edition this year and the official launching of the exercise got off ground with the precedence of Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Rear Admiral Bandara Jayathilake onboard SLNS Sayurala. ....

UK takes up forced cremation of Covid-19 victims

The mastermind of the Easter Sunday attacks was Naufer Moulavi, a mentor of NTJ leader Zahran Hashim, Minister of Public Security, Dr. Sarath Weerasekera said yesterday, when asked by a journalist whether there had been a foreign hand behind the attacks. Former Jamaat-e-Islami leader, Rasheed Hajjul Akbar too had played a main role, the Minister said.
The Minister said so at a press briefing in Colombo on the future of the report on the PCoI on the Easter carnage.
Weerasekera also said that there was no concrete evidence to prove that Pulasthini Rajendran alias Sarah Jasmine, the wife of Atchchi Muhammadu Muhammadu Hastun, who detonated a suicide bomb at St. Sebastian’s Church, Katuwapitiya on 21 April 2019, had escaped to India. ....
