Reno officials are running out of time to pass a pair of proposed tax hikes meant to help the city pay for new parks and homeless services. Senate Bills 11 and 73, first filed at the Nevada Legislature late last year, weathered criticism from residents and state lawmakers at a lengthy committee hearing held last month. Since then, the bills’ prospects only seem to have dimmed. Legislators had not taken a vote on the proposals as of Thursday afternoon, one day ahead of the deadline to pass legislation out of committee.
