PAC raises questions over fate of global Covid-19 aid

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee was surprised on putting every expenditure made by the federal ministries in the name of Corona Relief Package as it was found that subsidies on Utility Stores and even the funding for the Panaghas were made from the Corona relief package of over Rs1,240 billion.
The Public Accounts Committee also asked to submit the details of international aid received for Covid-19 from the Economic Affairs Division and also sought in-camera briefing on the purchase of corona vaccine from the Ministry of National Health Services and National Disaster Management Authority.
The meeting of the PAC was held under Chairman Rana Tanveer Hussain in which a briefing was given on Covid-19 expenditures. The PAC also sought detailed reports of audit objections on the corona funding, which were sought by the PAC and its sub-committees. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) sought a report from the Ministry of Communication over the steps taken to make the journey safer on Motorways which are in a state of disrepair.
The meeting of the PAC was held with the chair of its Chairman Rana Tanveer Hussain to examine the audit paras related to Ministry of Communication for the year 2018-19 and report of Auditor General (AG) on access of the computerised record of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the purpose of audit as well as report of the FBR on tax exemptions in the name of Fata/Pata but the Eid holidays atmosphere prevailed in the meeting. ....

PAC seeks report from: NAB about recoveries from politicians, others

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee has sought a report from the National Accountability Bureau regarding recoveries financial recoveries and adjustment recoveries made from politicians, bureaucracy, businessmen and other influential persons within a stipulated time of one month.
The PAC also sought a report from the NAB with regard to updates of the cases sent by the committee to the NAB within a stipulated time of one month. The PAC meeting was held with its Chairman Rana Tanveer Hussain in the chair here on Thursday.
Seeking the report regarding recoveries made from politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen and other influential persons, the PAC also directed the NAB to submit the report about the plea-bargains made by the politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen and other influential persons. ....
