New Madison County Service Center open for business Madison County Service Center opening By Kailey Schuyler | March 1, 2021 at 2:14 PM CST - Updated March 1 at 2:14 PM HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The new Madison County Service Center will be open for business starting Monday, March 1. The center is now home to several departments including the Tax Assessor, Tax Collector, License Director, Probate Judge, and Sales Tax and Voter Office. The County Commission says its goal was to make things easier for everyone. The new service center is at the southeast corner of Memorial Parkway and Oakwood Avenue. The biggest change you’ll notice is - unlike the courthouse, this new service center has plenty of parking space. A total of 350 spots to be exact. ....

(WAFF) - The future location of US Space Command is under formal review from the office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense. Governor Kay Ivey said she welcomes the scrutiny. Now, we’re awaiting the results of a DoD investigation into how Huntsville was selected as Space Command’s headquarters. The investigative team is going to check into several things including making sure the selection followed DoD and Air Force guidelines. Investigators will also look at the cost and objectivity of the decision. ....

WAFF is told the center will open in a couple of weeks and the building will soon be home to several departments. (WAFF) - Failing to plan, is planning to fail. That’s the message today from Madison County commission Chairman Dale Strong. He sent a letter to leaders at the Alabama Department of Public Health outlining what he believes should be done to better prepare Madison County for vaccine distribution. WAFF was bale to read the letter that was sent to ADPH area administrator Judy Smith. In the letter, Strong says he is aware of the current vaccine shortage, but he wants health officials to have mass vaccine locations throughout the country, to make it easy for everyone to get the shot when it’s available. ....
