The following arrests were highlighted by the police department:
⢠Tony Sargent was arrested on May 5 for charges of Burglary 1st Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. On April 15, an unknown individual broke into a residence on Woodridge Circle in Rainsville and Physically Assaulted the person living there. After an investigation into the break in warrants were issued for Tony Ray Sargent and he was arrested on May 5 at his residence on Woodridge Circle.
⢠On May 1, Darrell Davis, Marissa Davis-Monney and Charles Matchen were arrested on a search of their vehicle after a traffic stop in Rainsville. Davis was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Davis-Mooney was charged with three counts of Possession of Controlled Substance, one count of Promoting Prison Contraband (bringing drugs into the jail) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Matchen was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence,
A Rainsville man said he came home this week to a naked man in his living room.
The Rainsville Police Department responded to the call Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, on McCurdy Avenue N. The homeowner reported an unknown white man sitting in his living room, nude. After the homeowner called the police, officers Gerald Mount and Dean White made contact with the subject and identified him as Michael Lynn May.
May said he had been staying at the residence for an unknown period of time, and he did not know who owned the residence. The officers said May appeared to be under the influence of some substance, and he admitted he had taken several Xanax.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation provided training on Dec. 10th, 2020 to the Rainsville Police Department and surrounding agencies of DeKalb County.
Agents Tony Montgomery, Scott Cockrum, and J.R.C. Smith dedicated their time and resources to train and inform officers on two key areas on Wednesday, including Counter Terrorism and Cryptocurrency.
The subject of Counter Terrorism addressed the warning signs and indicators of Terrorist Organizationsâ activities, which occur domestically or locally, and how officers can identify such people who may be involved in these activities.
The section on Cryptocurrency covered the use of electronic currency, such as bitcoin, which is used in illegal activity such as funding terrorist organizations, buying and selling narcotics, other illicit drugs, human trafficking, and other illegal activities.
