The Port Harcourt Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Chief Detective Superintendent (CDS), Aliyu Naibi has said that collaboration between the EFCC and Navy remained the most important means of tackling the menace of illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria.
Naibi stated this in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 while delivering a lecture to students and staff of Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, who came on a study tour of the EFCC.
Naibi said that the challenge of illegal oil bunkering and other criminality in the maritime sector could only be tackled through multi- agency approaches. ....

EFCC plans chemical laboratory to fight illegal oil bunkering
The commission says it currently relies on the laboratory of the DPR for product analysis in the investigation of cases of illegal oil bunkering.
The
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is planning to establish a chemical laboratory in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to combat the scourge of illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.
This is contained in a statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren.
Mr Uwujaren said the Port Harcourt zonal head of the commission, Aliyu Naibi, a chief detective superintendent, disclosed this at his office on Tuesday while hosting the executives of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), System 2E Eastern Zone. ....

President Muhammadu Buhari has just landed safely in London, the United Kingdom.
A video posted by his New media aide, Bashir Ahmad showed Buhari stepping out of the Presidential jet.
Noticeably too, there was no official UK reception for Buhari since the visit is private.
This means that there was no red carpet as he stepped out of the Air Force plane into a waiting car.
President Buhari is expected to spend at least 2 weeks in the United Kingdom for a routine medical checkup.

Buhari asks Senate to confirm Justice Abdullahi as FCT Chief Judge

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, asked the Senate to confirm Justice Salisu Abdullahi as substantive Chief Judge of the High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The request was contained in a statement issued and made available to newsmen by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
According to the statement, the nominated Chief Judge had been acting in that capacity prior to the nomination.
Adesina said the president requested Section 256 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
President Buhari made the request in a letter dated April 1, 2021. ....

Usman M. Muktar, has taken over as the new head of the Ilorin Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC.
Muktar, a Chief Detective Superintendent, took over from Chief Detective Superintendent Oseni Kazeem Oluwasina, who has been redployed to Makurdi office of the anti-graft agency as the new zonal head.
A top anti-corruption czar, Muktar, comes into his new post with a lot of experience, a statement by the Ilorin Zonal office of the commission, announced in Ilorin on Thursday.
