Chuks Okocha in Abuja As preparation for the 2023 general election continues, the African Democratic Congress ( ADC) has rejected plans by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to create additional polling units in the country. The issue of additional polling units, which was shelved ahead of the 2015 general election, seems to have taken the centre stage again. In August 2014, INEC, under the leadership of Prof. Attahiru Jega, sought to create 30,027 additional polling units ahead of the 2015 general election, with 21,615 in the north and 8,412 in the southern part of the country. Addressing a press conference on the state of the nation at the weekend, the ADC said creating more polling units in addition to the existing 120,000 would further increase the cost of electioneering in the country. ....
LAGOS – A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, on Tuesday has convicted and sentenced Chief Okey Nwosu, a former Managing Director, Finbank Plc, to three years imprisonment for N10.9m fraud. Justice Lateefat A. Okunnu who delivered the Judgement found the defendants guilty, sentenced the first and second defendants, Nwosu and Famoroti, to three years imprisonment each. She also sentenced the third defendant, Ocholi, to 12 months imprisonment and slammed a six- month community service on the fourth defendant, Ebubedike. It will be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Nwosu alongside Dayo Famuroti, Agnes Ebubedike and Danjuma Ocholi on a 26-count amended charge bordering on stealing and illegal conversion to the tune of N10,934,704,402. ....

Onuka, a former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Congress (PDM), from where he became the chairman of IPAC in the state, recently moved to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) following the de-registration of the former. Speaking at a press conference to announce his resignation, Onuka said the de-registration of 74 registered political parties in the country destabilized the country’s political party administration, as chairmen of the affected parties lost control of their areas. ....
