Antrix challenges restraining order by US court

ISRO’s commercial arm Antrix Corp has filed a petition with a US District Court in Washington seeking to revoke a temporary restraining order (TRO) against a possible settlement in the dispute with Devas Multimedia.
Antrix has argued that the possibility of such a settlement was hypothetical at this point in time and secondly, the settlement, if any, will have to be first approved by an Indian court.
The US court had given a temporary injunction after shareholders of Devas Multimedia filed a petition that Antrix could force a settlement on Devas without the consent of its shareholders. This situation has arisen because in January Antrix filed a petition in the National Company Law Tribunal to wind up Devas on allegations of fraud. ....

NCLT Admits ISRO-Arm Antrix's Plea To Wind Up Devas Multimedia; Appoints Provisional Liquidator

The National Company Law Tribunal, Bengaluru, on Tuesday admitted the petition filed by Indian Space Research Organization s commercial arm Antrix Corporation Ltd to wind up Devas Multimedia under Sections 271 and 272 of the Companies Act 2013.
Antrix Corporation sought the winding up of Devas Multimedia on the grounds that the Bengaluru-based company s affairs were being have been conducted in a fraudulent manner , the company was formed for fraudulent and unlawful purpose , the persons concerned in the formation or management of its affairs have been guilty of fraud, misfeasance or misconduct .
Antrix and Devas are in the middle of multiple legal proceedings over the former terminating the 2005 contract with the latter in 2011. In November 2020, SC had stayed the execution of a US award which asked Antrix to pay 1.2 Billion $ compensation to Devas. ....

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is to be reorganised and restructured into two subsidiary companies effective February 1, 2021.
KCM Acting Chief Executive Officer Enock Mponda announced in a staff Memo that the move is in a bid to increase efficiency, foster optimization and boost business opportunities.
Mr Mponda said KCM will be split into two companies, namely KCM SmelterCo Limited, and Konkola Mineral Resources Limited.
The companies will begin to operate under the names KCM SmelterCo Limited, and Konkola Mineral Resources Limited, respectively, with two separate Management structures and employee arrangements.
KCM SmelterCo Limited has been in existence since 2002 and fully owned by KCM but has been dormant. ....
