DRDO's surveillance satellite sent to space, will help monitor Indian Ocean

In a boost for the country s surveillance capabilities to monitor activities of both military warships and merchant shipping in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), the Sindhu Netra satellite developed by a team of young scientists from Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) was successfully deployed in space on Sunday.
The satellite was launched using the Indian Space Research Organisation s (ISRO) PSLV-C51 which took off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 10:30 am today.
The Sindhu Netra satellite has been developed by the young scientists of the DRDO and is capable of automatically identifying the warships and merchant ships operating in the IOR. The satellite has also started communicating with the ground systems, government sources told ANI. ....

In 2019, the Army selected the FLIR Kobra robot as its CRS-H platform. The five-year production contract is worth up to $109 million to build upwards of 350 unmanned ground vehicles. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams will use the system to perform a range of missions, such as disarming vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and other heavy-duty jobs. This week, experts from 17 EDA Member States, plus Norway and Switzerland (which have Administrative Agreements in place with the Agency) participated in an EDA online workshop to discuss emerging technologies in defence with a particular focus on energy challenges of next generation military platforms.

NASA’s Mobile Launcher Platform-2 a structure involved in the Apollo and Space Shuttle missions is in the process of being torn down. Incredibly, the space agency is ridding itself of the massive platform to make room for parking spaces, as collectSpace reports.

In a matter of weeks, Mobile Launcher-2, or MLP-2, will be no more.
Built more than 50 years ago, the historic NASA launcher was involved in such notable missions as Apollo 12 and 14 (both crewed missions to the Moon), Skylab (a precursor to the International Space Station), and every inaugural Space Shuttle launch save for Columbia. More dubiously, MLP-2 was the platform from which the Challenger shuttle made its final, tragic flight in 1986. In total, MLP-2 was involved in over 50 launches from 1968 through 2011.
