Fire tests for risky unit block cladding

A popular cladding product that is on a number of Sydney high rise apartment buildings is being slammed as a fire risk.
But a spokesman for manufacturers Fairview say their product complies with regulations, has passed testing by the CSIRO and is the victim of a smear campaign.
Two construction industry figures have condemned the use of the Vitracore G2 cladding panels, which is on a Bondi Junction high-rise as well as buildings in Liverpool, Crows Nest, Burwood, Waterloo and Brookvale.
Despite being compliant with current Australian standards, the product has effectively been banned in Queensland while Victorian regulators are investigating concerns that its glue content and waffle-like design could create a fire risk. ....

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - Nearly nine months after a civilian woman was shot to death by law enforcement during a flawed raid of her home, officials are on the verge of firing two detectives who were involved in the case.
According to CNN, the Louisville Metro Police Department sent Detectives Joshua Jaynes and Myles Cosgrove pre-termination letters.
Jaynes attorney, Thomas Clay, confirmed his client s Tuesday, Dec. 29 receipt of the notice from Interim Chief of Police Yvette Gentry, which included information regarding Gentry s present intention to terminate (his) employment, based on a review of the findings of the Professional Standards Investigation into the preparation and execution of the search warrant ....

The Louisville Metro Police Department is seeking to fire two detectives connected to the Breonna Taylor case, attorneys for the men told CNN.
Detective Joshua Jaynes received a pre-termination letter from the department earlier Tuesday, his attorney Thomas Clay said.
The letter, sent from Interim Chief of Police Yvette Gentry, informed Jaynes of the present intention to terminate (his) employment and that the action is based upon a review of the findings of the Professional Standards Investigation into the preparation and execution of the search warrant at Taylor s apartment. ....
