New Delhi, Apr 1 (UNI) Both West Bengal and Assam registered high voter turnout in the second phase of voting for Assembly elections on Thursday with 80.43 and 73.06 per cent polling recorded till 1800 hrs.
Of the 30 constituencies that went to polls today, included the high-profile Nandigram constituency of Purba Medinipur from where Trinamool chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is fighting the elections. To counter the TMC in its bastion, the saffron party has pitted Mamata s colleague-turned-rival Suvendu Adhikari, who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party before the elections.
However, the voting was marred with sporadic violence in Bengal where nine seats of Paschim Medinipur, eight in Bankura, four seats in South 24 Parganas and nine seats in Purba Medinipur, totaling 30 seats, went for the polls. ....

Nandigram / Kolkata: Massive turnout, marked by sporadic violence, marked the second phase of voting for the West Bengal Legislative Assembly as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reprimanded the Election Commission for inaction over complaints filed for her party.
Minor clashes and minor skirmishes were reported from various constituencies including high profile Nandigram where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee along with her former lieutenant Suvendu Adhari are now locked in a high-level electoral battle with the BJP.
Agitated, Banerjee pulled up the Election Commission for not taking any action despite filing several complaints and threatening to go to court over it. ....

Heavy voting amidst sporadic violence marked the second phase of polling to the West Bengal Assembly, as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the Election Commission over inaction to complaints filed by her party.
Sporadic violence and minor clashes were reported from various constituencies, including the high profile Nandigram, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is locked in a high-stakes electoral battle with her former lieutenant Suvendu Adhikari now with the BJP.
An agitated Banerjee slammed the Election Commission for not taking any action despite lodging several complaints and threatened to move court over it. Amongst the complaints were allegations of “booth capturing” and massive fake voting in Boyal. ....

Kolkata, Apr 1 (UNI) Amid elaborate security arrangements, the second phase of polling in West Bengal, including high voltage Nandigram constituency in Purba Midnapore district, recorded a high voter turnout of more than 60 per cent till 1400 hours.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Derek O Brien writes to EC alleging booth capture by BJP workers in Nandigram Assembly Constituency.
