Gaithersburg might use more than $11.5 million in federal COVID-19 relief funding to help make up for lost revenue during the pandemic, City Manager Tanisha Briley said on Monday.
The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, passed by Congress in March and signed by President Joe Biden, sets aside $350 billion for state and local governments.
Gaithersburg is one of 19 municipalities in Montgomery County receiving funding from the legislation. The county government is receiving more than $200 million.
Briley told the City Council that Gaithersburg has received about half of its allotment, and the second half will be issued in May 2022. ....
