Chatra: The district administration has launched a poster campaign to encourage the beneficiaries, particularly those in rural areas, to take the Covid-19 vaccine. A bunch of government teachers and health workers have been roped in for the campaign and they will visit villages, urging people not to pay heed to rumours regarding inoculation and take the shot. Meanwhile on Sunday, state labour minister and Chatra MLA Satyanand Bhokta moved around his constituency, asking people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour. He asked the adults to register themselves on the Co-WIN app and go to the nearest vaccination centre for taking the jab. “The vaccine is safe and no one should believe in rumours,” he said. ....
Chatra: After 294 people died in several villages under 42 panchayats in the past 40 days, the Chatra administration has rolled out special health camps in the areas in order to ascertain if Covid-19 claimed the lives. Speaking on the issue, Chatra DC Divyanshu Jha said, “Besides ascertaining the cause of deaths and taking action accordingly, the health workers will look for suspected cases of Covid-19 and carry out an awareness drive during the camps to prevent the spread of the virus, if any.” He added, “The workers have been instructed to follow the guidelines laid down by the Indian Council of Medical Research, which included measuring the oxygen level of all sick persons. If anyone is found with oxygen levels below normal, he or she will be immediately taken to a dedicated Covid care centre or to the Covid care ward in the district.” ....
Chatra: With protesters stalling construction works of the North Karnpura super thermal power plant in Chatra district’s Tandwa, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) said it is incurring a daily loss of Rs 1.5 crore. The protest by the raiyats is on for the last 14 days. Executive director of the project Asim Kumar Goswami on Tuesday said the protest will also delay the deadline for commissioning the first unit of the power plant by three months which was originally scheduled in June this year. NTPC is constructing a 1,980-MW power plant of three 660MW units. The protests have led 5,000 labourers engaged in the project to return to their homes. ....

The case pertains to collecting funds through extortion from contractors, coal traders and transporters in the Magadh Amrapali coal block area of Jharkhand. The attached assets included vehicles registered in the name of Ganjhu and his firm M/s Maa Gange Coal Trading Private Limited. ....
