Paramedics in North Carolina could be permitted to carry concealed weapons when assisting in tactical law enforcement emergencies if House Bill 48 garners enough support from state lawmakers.
The bill received a favorable report Wednesday afternoon in a House Judiciary Committee meeting after a lively conversation between lawmakers.
Rep. Deb Butler, a Wilmington Democrat, said she received a lot of emails in opposition to the bill.

Doha: The Armed Forces concluded yesterday the tactical exercise “Miqdam 4”, carried out by cadets of the National Service Academy, under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs H E Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, in the presence of Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces H E Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem.
The exercise concluded by the implementation of its second phase which aimed at training on defending islands, including the transfer of forces via helicopters and sailing boats, the implementation of defense works, the establishment of fortifications and the creation of engineering obstacles. ....
