Navy sailor may have staged his kidnapping, says Palghar police

Days after the
charred body of a 27-year-old Indian Navy sailor was found in Maharashtra s Palghar, police on Wednesday indicated that the seaman might have staged his own kidnapping.
Palghar police said they had found CCTV footage of the sailor, Surajkumar Mithilesh Dube, purchasing two bottles of lose diesel from a fuel station in Talasari on February 5 a day before his burnt body was found.
Till now, we have found no signs of force or kidnapping on Dube. It is not a case of kidnapping for extortion. Further investigations are on. Police are investigating all possible angles, including self immolation and staged kidnapping, said Palghar SP Dattatraya Shinde. ....
