PM: home-grown vaccines must ensure safety, efficiency
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed speeding up the production of home-grown vaccines, saying they must ensure safety and efficiency.
He gave the direction during a working session with leaders of ministries, vaccine producers and scientists in Hanoi on July 23 to discuss the research and production of COVID-19 vaccines.
Speaking at the event, Chinh stressed that Vietnam is rolling out “vaccine strategy”, including importing; studying, facilitating vaccine production technology transfer and producing home-grown vaccines; and vaccinating the whole population for free.

NDO - The Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha (VBS) celebrated the birth of the Buddha with a private ceremony on May 26 with fewer attendees than usual but livestreamed on social media for Buddhists to attend virtually.
The event, held at the Quan Su Temple in Hanoi, was scaled down as Vietnam is struggling with a new, more contagious coronavirus outbreak and as such, restrictions have been put in place to prevent the spread of the virus.
At the ceremony, a message from the VBS Supreme Patriarch Thich Pho Tue was read, in which he reiterates that humans need to work together to address current crises, notably the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still a serious affliction upon the world.
