Discoms outstanding dues to power gencos rise nearly 17pc to Rs 1.02 lakh cr in Feb

Power producers give 45 days to discoms to pay bills for electricity supply. After that, outstanding dues become overdue and generators charge penal interest on that in most cases.
Total dues owed by electricity distribution companies to power producers rose nearly 17 per cent to Rs 1,02,684 crore in February this year, reflecting persistent stress in the sector. Distribution companies (discoms) owed a total of Rs 87,888 crore to power generation firms in February 2020, according to portal PRAA (Payment Ratification And Analysis in Power procurement for bringing Transparency in Invoicing of generators).
ISGEC Heavy Engineering has received an order for wet flue gas desulphurisation system package for the 2x660 MW Khurja Thermal Power Project in Uttar Pradesh from L&T MHI Power Boilers.
The end user for this project is THDC India and the Consultant is NTPC, the company said in a BSE filing made after market hours on Friday. The objective of this project is the removal of sulphur dioxide so as to make the plant compliant to the latest emission norms. The broad scope of the project includes design, engineering, supply, transportation, erection, commissioning, and performance guarantee testing.
Further, ISGEC Heavy Engineering has also bagged an order for DeNOx (Combustion Modifications) Package for the 2x77 MW & 1x80 MW Wall Fired Boilers at Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu from OPG Power Generation. This project is aimed at reducing NOx in order to make the plant compliant with the recent NOx emission norms. The consultant for this project is Aquatherm.
In November 2020, the total overdue amount, which was not cleared even after 45 days of grace period offered by generators, stood at Rs 1,29,868 crore as against Rs 93,215 crore in the year-ago period.
