Ms Siuzanna Mnatsakanian, Senior Officer of the Project “Promoting social human rights as a key factor of sustainable democracy in Ukraine”, took part in the second meeting of the Barrier-Free Council which was created to monitor and oversee the implementation of the National Strategy for Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine until 2030.

participated in it. The members of the Council reviwed the revised Action Plan for 2021-2022 for the implementation of the National Strategy.

Last year, in just a few months, the COVID-19 crisis brought about years of change in the way governments, organizations and companies in all sectors and regions do business. Numerous lockdown restrictions triggered the shift of demand towards online public services, making them the new normal. According to a McKinsey Global Survey, many companies catapulted the digital transformation of their external and internal operations by three to four years in 2020. During the same period, the share of digital or digitally-enabled products in their portfolios accelerated by an amazing seven years. In Ukraine, UNDP also managed to shift most of its operations to online programming and management in just six days when the pandemic hit.

Government approves National Strategy for Barrier-Free Environment

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the National Strategy for Barrier-Free Environment and established the Council to control and monitor the implementation of the Strategy. The Cabinet of Ministers approved the National Strategy for Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine until 2030, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal posted on Telegram after the Cabinet’s meeting.
He added that the Council for Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine was established to monitor and control the implementation of the National Strategy at the suggestion of First Lady Olena Zelenska. I would like to thank Mrs. Olena Zelenska, who raised the problem of barriers and brought together a wide range of experts, civil society representatives and authorities to build a barrier-free environment in Ukraine, the Prime Minister wrote.
