Covid-19 vaccine demand pressure builds up ahead of 'Tika Utsav'


Survey by LocalCircles showed 77 per cent respondents willing to take the jab now, as against 38 per cent in January
Increased readiness for the jab, local distribution hick-ups and supply issues at the vaccine makers end are seen causing a shortage-like situation for Covid-19 vaccines in the country, experts noted.
What adds to the demand pressure is the Centre s ambitious four-day Tika Utsav (Vaccination Festival), which kicks-off on April 11.
According to its latest survey, community social media network LocalCircles noted that nearly a fifth of the respondents had someone in their social network who had failed to get a vaccine in the first 10 days of April. ....

Union Home Minister outlined the efforts undertaken by the government in the battle against Covid. He also gave an overview of the progress in the vaccination drive in the country. Union Health Secretary gave a presentation on the Covid situation in the country, focussing on states that are experiencing high caseload at present, and emphasized the need to increase testing in these states.
