Eliminating the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) requires a whole-of-society approach underpinned by a multi-stakeholder partnership, says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
He said this while receiving a contribution of 300 thermal guns from Vodafone Fiji Ltd and Telecom Fiji Ltd totalling $19,500.
“This donation will significantly contribute to Government’s efforts to secure our villages, especially in the three provinces of Tailevu, Rewa and Naitasiri,” he said.
“The private sector has an important role in Government’s response to defeat the virus.”
Vodafone Fiji regional chief executive officer Pradeep Lal said helping those in genuine need of personal protective equipment at this time was a no-brainer. ....

A donation of 300 thermal guns from Vodafone Fiji Limited and Telecom Fiji Limited was handed over to Government today to support Fiji’s response in tackling the COVID-19 second wave.
According to a statement the thermal guns cost $19,500 and the two companies each contributed $9,750 towards this initiative.
The statement further said the in-kind donation is in response to the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s commitment in Parliament recently to support the Tailevu, Rewa and other provinces in the provision of personal protective equipment (PPEs). ....

GOLD ROCK DONATES MATERIALS FOR REBUILDING HOMES

The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) received $15,000 worth of building materials from Gold Rock Investment Limited last week to assist Government in its recovery efforts for Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

The donated materials comprised of 52 pallets of concrete blocks and 12 pallets of Builders Choice (Premium builders Mix).

In handing over the building materials, the company’s chief executive officer, Mr. Joseva Gavoka said Gold Rock Investment Limited sympathised with Fijians affected by TC Yasa.

“We hope our products will assist those affected by TC Yasa and we also urge other companies to come onboard and assist our fellow Fijians,” Mr Gavoka said. ....
