Other early members included Sandy McMillin on string bass and Leonard Cohen on mouth harp and guitar. Not to be confused with the Canadian singer-songwriter,
Leonard (Tamahae) Cohen departed the group in the early ‘70s and these days resides in Adelaide, where he is a member of the bluegrass band Crooked Road.
The Hamilton County Bluegrass Band became a household name thanks to their appearances on hit TV show
The Country Touch. They relocated to Australia in 1971 to tour with popular country musician Slim Dusty, and moved back to New Zealand three years later.
In 2015 they were inducted into New Zealand s Country Music Hands of Fame and the following year Paul Trenwith received the Queen’s Service Medal for services to country music. ....

Having only picked up a guitar for the first time in September of 2017, Lisa De Angelis’ resume is impressive. After graduating from the Country Music Association of Australia’s prestigious Academy of Country Music in 2019, she has wasted no time making a name for herself: since then, De Angelis has toured with and opened shows for Steve Kilbey, legendary frontman of The Church - who was so taken by De Angelis as a performer that he penned a song for her to release, due mid 2021 - Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson, blues guitar prodigy and BB King’s protege Nathan Cavaleri, as well ....

APRA Awards to honour country music legend Joy McKean, announce full lineup
Plans for this month’s APRA Awards are ramping up, with the association announcing that country music matriarch Joy McKean OAM will be honoured on the night, and unveiling a host of live performances from new and established writers.
McKean will be the second recipient of the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music in 2021, alongside the late Helen Reddy, who was announced earlier this year. Her 70-year career began with writing songs in her early teens, before performing, recording and broadcasting with her sister Heather in the 1940s and ’50s. ....

NBN News | COUNCIL IN TALKS ABOUT CREATING OFFICIAL 'TAMWORTH' THEMED MONOPOLY


The Golden Guitar could soon become the new Picadilly, with talks of an official Tamworth-themed Monopoly board.
It’s understood Winning Moves Australia, who owns the rights to the beloved game, has approached Tamworth Regional Council about the possibility.
Popular landmarks such as the guitar, Longyard Golf Course and the city’s Adventure Playground have been tossed around as potential features.
A motion to approve the game is expected to go before council in coming months.
The company hopes to have the game on the market in time for the 50th Tamworth Country Music Festival in January.
