DHAKA, March 16, 2021 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the name of the Ministry of Information has been changed as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting because it has been doing the tasks of broadcasting along with giving information.
“We have sent a letter to the Cabinet division to change the name of the ministry. The Cabinet division sent it to the President after evaluation and taking approval from the Prime Minister. After getting approval from the President, a gazette notification has been issued in this regard. We would like to extend thanks to the President and the Premier for this,” he said. ....

DHAKA, March 12, 2021 (BSS) â A 10-day special programme will begin at National Parade Ground from Wednesday marking the birth centenary celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Golden Jubilee of the Independence.
Chief Coordinator of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury today revealed the information at a press conference at the International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) in the city, said a press release.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Sunday freedom and accountability both are the most crucial in the advancement of mass media.
“Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had formed the Press Council aiming to ensure independence of the mass media, so that, media can act properly as the mirror of the society,” he said, addressing a discussion at Press Council auditorium in the city.
The minister said the press council was formed so that media can refrain itself from publishing false and untrue information.
Bangladesh Press Council (BPC) organised the discussion marking the ‘Bangladesh Press Council Day’. ....
