KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 The government should establish a panel of medical doctors and leading medical practitioners in the country to review its efforts in curbing the spread of Covid-19, said former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

ITV taps Vualto to deliver niche live streaming content

Live and on-demand video streaming and DRM provider Vualto has been chosen by the UK’s leading independent broadcaster ITV to implement the necessary dynamic event orchestration technology to deliver live streamed events via its ITV Hub video-on-demand service.
The broadcasting giant say that it selected Vualto to deliver the necessary infrastructure to enable the spinning up of pop-up channels for the streaming of live events via its ITV Hub. In order to drive incremental views and make the broadcasting of more niche events via the ITV Hub, the partnership with Vualto will also enable ITV to explore more of its existing sports rights. ....

MovieLabs updates ECP specs for added content protection

In the latest part of the company’s plans to support human creative tasks by connecting them through software-mediated collaboration and automation, Motion Picture Laboratories (MovieLabs) has announced the latest steps in the MovieLabs Enhanced Content Protection (EPC) specification.
Originally published in 2013 and since widely implemented by industry partners, the EPC is said to be designed to raise the bar for protecting 4K, HDR and early window content in consumer distribution. The ECP spec is based on discussions with those partners and in response to evolving threats and the last version, ECP 1.2 was published in August 2018.
The latest version, ECP 1.3, primarily aims to address the risks posed by debugging interfaces left open in production units and by devices past their end-of-life for DRM and security updates that fail to patch known vulnerabilities. ....
