It’s near-impossible to give a proper, thorough review of the first episode of
Line of Duty series six. With secrecy around the BBC’s most popular continuing drama at an all-time high, the spoilers list – topics journalists are urged not to mention – essentially amounts to the entirety of the plot.
It’s probably for the best. Much of the enjoyment that comes with watching Jed Mercurio’s anti-corruption drama is in the anticipation of the unexpected. And
Line Of Duty’s series openers are typically full of them. Remember DC Georgia Trotman (Jessica Raine) getting chucked out of a window in series two? Or Sergeant Danny Waldron (Daniel Mays) taking one in the neck in series three? You wouldn’t want to know if anything like that happened in this episode and I wouldn’t want to tell you.
