Triton Electric in talks with Karnataka govt to set up India plant

Plans to introduce an N4 sedan Triton Electric, the US-headquartered company that plans to introduce electric cars in India, held an extensive discussion with the Karnataka government on Monday.
Led by Himanshu Patel, CEO and Founder of Triton Electric, held a virtual meeting with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
The company plans to introduce an N4 sedan in India with a price starting at ₹35 lakh. Recently the company registered the Indian subsidiary by the name of Triton Electric Vehicles India in New Delhi.
“Karnataka government is very keen to support entry of new-age firms like Triton Electric Vehicles and all assistance will be provided with complete customised facilitation,” the Chief Minister said. He explained that an EV cluster in Ramanagara is being created over 500 acres which will offer a strong and concentrated EV ecosystem.

Talking about the big launch of Triton in the Indian market in the electric vehicle space, Himanshu said, “We’ve considered keeping every component very special for India, making sure everything has been thought through- the traffic in India, the heat in India, the demand and the price point. We’ve kept all these things in point when we were building this vehicle because every component in India had to build with a very special understanding. When we say that, how do the traffic and environment affect the electric vehicle car, with mileage or the battery requirement. So, when we talk about an electric vehicle, we talk about 103 F temperature and having to sit in four hours of traffic in a major city.�

NEW DELHI: US-based Triton Electric Vehicle on Monday said it aims to introduce N4 sedan in India with price starting at Rs 35 lakh.
The electric sedan, which would be manufactured in the US, is going to be available in four different variants and a high-performance limited edition in the country, the company said in a statement.
Only 100 units of the limited edition version - N4-GT - would be produced, it added.
The N4 model comes powered by 75Kwh and 100 Kwh battery options giving the vehicle a range of up to 523 km and 696 km respectively, it added.
