Paul Goldner wants to keep schools closed. He’s an obedient leftist who thinks in-person learning is genocide, because the teachers’ union, I mean “the science,” says so. As a school district committee member, Goldner has repeatedly voted to prevent school reopenings.
Mind you, Goldner hasn’t exactly been suffering during the pandemic. During last year’s lockdown, he decided to have his kitchen remodeled, no matter the threat posed to him or the strangers he allowed in his home for the job. So Goldner gets a new kitchen, but your kids don’t get to go to school. ....

North Shore school officials call for educators to receive COVID-19 vaccine in Phase I

Many North Shore School officials are requesting that educators be reclassified in the state’s vaccination plan, granting them access to COVID-19 vaccinations now, during Phase I.
Phase I includes COVID-19 facing health care providers, first responders, staff and residents at congregate care settings, among others at high-risk for contracting the vi.
As it stands now, educators are not eligible to receive vaccinations until Phase II of the plan, which begins in February.
The North Shore Superintendents’ Round Table, which represents 29 districts, made their request known in a letter to Gov. Charlie Baker.
“We cite the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in urging you to prioritize the health and well being of our educators so that Massachusetts school districts can operate at the fullest possible strength as our nation begins to emerge from this global pandemic,” the letter states. ....

NEWBURYPORT â School Committee member Sean ReardonÂ announced this week heâs running for mayor of Newburyport in 2021, hoping toÂ be âa unifierâ who can bridge divisions and move the city forward.
Reardon, a two-term member of the School Committee and the married, father of three, (Oliver, 8, Ruby, 11 and Sadie, 13 on Sunday) announced his candidacy for mayor on Facebook on Dec. 20.
Mayor Donna Holaday has been in the corner office since she was elected to a pair of two-year terms beginning in 2010. After that, the position of mayor was made a four-year term. She was elected to her second four-year term in 2018. She did not return calls from The Daily News on Tuesday for comment about whether she will seek reelection in 2021. ....

Most schools in Massachusetts have been maintaining some form of in-person learning for students this fall, but some districts are making temporary changes as coronavirus cases surge.
Education officials have stressed that in-school spread of coronavirus is low, but there is transmission in classrooms. In Framingham, students are learning remotely until next month after Superintendent Robert Tremblay reported instances of in-schools transmission of the virus, as well as reports of parents sending symptomatic children to class.
With 158 Massachusetts communities now considered at high risk for spreading COVID-19 - up from 97 the previous week - some districts have decided to switch to remote education through the holidays. ....
