Running now until Feb. 25, this show is filled with songs of romance, Shakespeare’s lovers’ sonnets, a love story in dance and Debbie Collins making us laugh. Nicolas Mustapha is on deck at the Grand piano, primarily as accompanist. Derek Marshall opens the entertainment, elegant in his tux, a crooner for these times. He brings those smooth songs that never grow old, singing them the way they were meant to be sung. Echoes of Sinatra, Dean Martin – maybe Sammy Davis Jr. Romance is firmly in the air with Nice ‘N Easy [Does It]– “hold on to your horses” and take your time to enjoy. ....

By now, you might even know the drill. You can buy your virtual ticket online and watch the show any time over its two-week run. Such a lovely list of artists to celebrate Valentine’s, old love, new love or simply chase the doldrums and blues away. Artistic Director, David Nairn said it: “Just want everyone to have a lovely time; share the show by Zoom with friends in other parts of the country and watch it at the same time – get family together. Even if you are alone, you still feel the warmth of what the show is.” ....

The Citizen was invited to attend a filming of one of the participants in the upcoming An Affair of the Heart, Theatre Orangeville’s online production for the Valentine’s Day “season,” as it were, running from Feb. 12 to 25. All but the stage was in darkness, the quiet seats providing comfort for the few of us in attendance. In addition to ourselves were the two musicians, Trevor Patt and Nicolas Mustapha. “It’s been a long time since I sang on a stage,” Mr. Patt observed, sadly but also expressing his joy about being there. He was sat on a stool, centre stage, guitar in his hands. ....
