The Steelers have signed four of the team s 2021 NFL Draft picks, including defensive end Isaiahh Loudermilk, linebacker Quincy Roche, defensive back Tre Norwood and punter Pressley Harvin III.
Loudermilk, a fifth round pick who played at the University of Wisconsin, was an All-Big Ten third team selection (media), All-Big Ten honorable mention (coaches) and an East-West Shrine Bowl selection.
He played in 40 career games at Wisconsin, starting 26. He has 63 career tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss and 7.5 sacks. He also added nine pass defenses and two forced fumbles.
His versatility is one of the things that really attracted the Steelers to him, something that he prides himself on. ....

The 2021 college football season will go down in history as the Year of the Transfer.
Because the 2020-21 academic year did not count against anyone s eligibility clock and because the NCAA finally approved the one-time free transfer proposal (undergraduates aren t required to sit out for a year if it s their first time transferring), transfers are taking place en masse.
The vast majority of those transfers will be either inconsequential or only mildly consequential, but a handful could make a College Football Playoff-altering impact in their new homes.
A player leaving one team to lead another to championship heights is not a new phenomenon. A former transfer won the Heisman Trophy in 2017, 2018 and 2019, after all. But it feels like there have already been at least five times as many Oh, wow, that s a huge pickup for an already solid team reactions to transfers as usual. ....

Pittsburgh Steelers announce jersey numbers for their 2021 draft class

Although many of the numbers for the Steelers 2021 draft picks had been floating around, the Steelers officially announced the jersey numbers for their entire 2021 draft class on Thursday.
JERSEY NUMBERS
It had previously been announced that first round draft pick Najee Harris would be wearing his number 22 just like he did in his four seasons at Alabama. The rest of the jerseys are also now official from the Steelers.
Pat Freiermuth will be donning number 88 when training camp opens in July. In college he sported the number 87 but it is currently issued to tighten Kevin Rader. Center Kendrick Green will bring a familiar number to the position as he has been issued number 53. One of two numbers he wore in college, Green’s other option of 55 is currently issued to Devin Bush. Offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr will get to keep his number 65 he wore while at Texas A&M. ....

The Steelers record drafting corners, and to a lesser degree safeties, hasn’t been great. So when they drafted Tre Norwood in the seventh round, my expectations weren’t high at all. At that point in the draft, you don’t have expectations, much like you shouldn’t have expectations when the Steelers draft a player listed as a cornerback.
When Mike Tomlin announced Norwood as a “Swiss army knife, utility-back safety” my expectations sunk even farther. I mean how good can a guy be who slips to the 245th pick and who also doesn’t even have a position? ....

FORT SMITH, Arkansas Fort Smith Mayor McGill will hold a press conference to recognize two local athletes signing with the NFL.
During a press conference on May 11, Mayor McGill will present a key to the City of Fort Smith to Tre Norwood and Kiondre Thomas.
Norwood was drafted to the NFL in 7th round pick 245 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. ....
