Lakeview runner named FCA student-athlete of the month | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff report The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has named Keira Reid, a student at Trumbull Career and Technical Center, as the Student-Athlete of the Month for March. Reid is a senior at TCTC studying exercise science and carries a grade point average of 3.96. She competes athletically for Lakeview, where she has lettered twice in cross country and is working on her second letter in track. Reid helps lead the FCA Huddle at TCTC and has been involved with her Youth Leadership Team at North Mar Church. She is planning on continuing her education at Owens Community College near Toledo. Katie Wright, English instructor at TCTC and FCA Huddle host, says Reid “has grown tremendously as a leader these last two years.”

Apr 12, 2021 CHAMPION Paula Baco, supervisor / interim director of the Trumbull Career and Technical Center, has been recognized by High Schools That Work Northeast Ohio for providing leadership and improvements made at the school. “We believe changing adult behaviors will increase student achievement and graduation rates,” Diana Rogers, regional coordinator at HSTWNE, said. Baco and Youngstown Schools CEO Justin Jennings are among five in northeast Ohio to be recognized for their abilities to make significant improvements in their respective areas using data-driven methods. Jennings is to receive the 2021 HSTW District Leadership award. Baco is to be given the 2021 HSTW Career Technical Education School Leadership award and the 2021 Burkholder Leadership Scholarship award for increasing student achievement, according to Rogers.

The Warren Junior Women’s League co-sponsored the event, which enabled girls to pick out a dress, shoes, jewelry, purses and makeup. CHAMPION Champion High School and the Warren Junior Women’s League have teamed up to provide free prom dresses for area teens. Last year’s prom dress giveaway was canceled because of the pandemic. This year’s event was set up in the Champion High School Flash Zone room with hundreds of various colored dresses on five large display racks.
