ETSU Health announced a slew of walk-in COVID-19 vaccination events throughout the month of June on Tuesday, in addition to an event on Saturday. The events will all use the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which was approved for use in those 18 and older after a brief pause last month. Faculty, students and staff from ETSU Health colleges, including Quillen College of Medicine, Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Nursing and the College of Public Health, will administer the vaccines and assist with patient intake and registration. Eleven members of the Class of 2021 who have distinguished themselves for academic excellence, service and leadership at East Tennessee State University have been inducted into the 1911 Society. Named in commemoration of the year when ETSU was founded, the 1911 Society recognizes the universityâs most notable graduates from undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The selection committee evaluates applicants on academic achievement; sustained service; honors, awards, recognitions, publications and presentations; demonstrated leadership; work experience, such as study abroad, internships, externships and clinicals; and personal narratives. Series of events begins today, concludes on Sunday afternoon After holding spring and fall commencement ceremonies virtually in 2020, East Tennessee State University will host ceremonies on campus this week for its roughly 2,000 spring 2021 graduates as well as graduates from spring and fall 2020. Instead of the traditional two Saturday ceremonies, the university will host several ceremonies over the course of four days. ETSU will have a series of safety protocols in place for graduates, guests and participants: Face coverings will be required at all times for graduates, guests and staff while inside the Mini-Dome. Attendance is limited, and each graduate will receive four tickets for guests. ....
