Genius Armoury – developed by Untapped Holdings with BHP, DXC Australia, Splunk, La Trobe University and Curtin University – is intended to help tackle part of Australia s cyber security skills shortage. The $15 million, three-year initiative (partially funded by AustCyber s projects fund) is designed to help the Australian cyber security industry grow, while reducing unemployment among autistic people. The unemployment rate for autistic individuals is 31.6%, according to Amaze – three times the rate for people with a disability, and almost six times the rate for people without a disability. ....

The Australian Taxation Office is preparing to approach the market to recontest its three major IT managed service deal in the biggest shakeup of IT outsourcing in more than a decade. Chief information officer Ramez Katf on Tuesday revealed plans to release one or more requests for information (RFIs) next month to inform what will be a “multi-year” procurement approach. The contracts will cover centralised computing, end user technology and enterprise services management centre (ESMC), and are collectively worth around $200 million each year at present. Centralised computing – the largest of the three deals – is currently held by DXC under a 13-year, $2.1 billion contract, while the end user computing and ESMC contracts are held by Leidos. ....
Queensland-based cattle, beef and food processing company Australian Country Choice (ACC) has appointed DXC to deploy Oracle Fusion Cloud. ACC calls itself the world’s largest family-owned, vertically integrated cattle and beef supply chain company. Its operations cover cattle breeding, backgrounding and lot feeding to meat processing, retail packing and distribution. ACC approached DXC to deploy Oracle’s Fusion Cloud Applications to get improved business insights and traceability and allow the company to scale and grow. DXC said Oracle Fusion Cloud would enable ACC to make faster and smarter decisions that turn traditional supply chains into agile integrated systems. The solution replaces the current platform of disparate systems, processes and controls as well as key-person-dependency. ....

Geoscience Australia has selected Cirrus Networks as its IT services provider for up to the next five years under a new $13 million deal. The initial three-year contract, which includes two one-year extension options, will see the Perth-based managed services replace the agency’s incumbent provider DXC Technology. DXC Technology has held the deal for the last five years, having struck a now $22.7 million deal back in 2016. Geoscience Australia went looking for a new IT service provider to serve as the “primary interface” between staff and its IT environment in August 2020. ....
