TAU celebrates lifelong patron Doris Brown


TAU recently honoured Doris Brown, a lifelong parton of the health food store, without whom they say TAU markets would not be what they are today.
Not only did she shop at the very first TAU store on St. Denis Street, but she now frequents the TAU Blainville location at 99 years old! On March 15th, Doris Brown will celebrate her 100th birthday, and to pay homage on such a momentous day, the TAU staff is planning something special for their special client.  ....

Doris Bunte arrived in Boston in 1953 with 98 cents to her name — and then a dime less after she bought a candy bar — before rising to become, for a time, arguably the most powerful woman in Boston politics.
“I think I was born working,” she said with a smile in a 1974 Globe interview. “I pasted feathers on hats and painted buttons on spindles. Then I folded towels and did domestic work for rich people in Brookline.” ....

The Anointed Brown Sisters are vocal powerhouses with fire down from the country in Havana, Alabama. The four ladies are from Hale County and the group is comprised of Chrishon Chris Brown-Smith, Mesha Brown-Lanier, Abigail Abby Brown, and Ora Brown who are sisters and grew up together singing. Mesha and Chrishon are the front runners and do most of the writing and vocals even starting from the early ages of 5 years old. Chrishon Brown-Smith is the lead singer, songwriter, and arranger for the group. The group also includes Ms. Smith’s daughter, Crystal Smith. ....
