He didn t win the national Golden Gloves welterweight title, but he s the second-best at 147 pounds. “It was an even, hard-fought match,” said coach Tom Herron, “but I thought the other kid did win it.” It was a split decision, 3-2. It was used for hauling freight from the NP (Northern Pacific Railroad) depot to stores around town as well as for other kinds of moving. The picture was taken in front of the railroad freight office. Before the truck, Silas Hal used teams of horses and wagons which he kept at 415 Main (now Washington Street).
