1/1 THE transformation of a 300-year-old tree into a work of art for the community is expected to be complete in the forthcoming week. On November 23 chainsaw carver Ian Williams, of Flint Mountain, started work on a large horse chestnut tree to the rear of Holywell Leisure Centre. He was commissioned to transform the tree by Flintshire Council after it had to be reduced in size, and has been incorporating several designs by local school children. Those include owls, a windmill, a dragon and many more. Mr Williams is to return to the site on Monday to add further designs to the trunk following the removal of scaffolding, and hopes to be finished by Tuesday - weather permitting. ....
