by Tom Brown (Independent Commodity Intelligence Services) Shifting government priorities are continuing to weigh on the growth of biofuels, with the policy-driven sector buffeted by delays in new legislation and low fossil fuel costs.
The public commitments by most governments to emissions-reduction, and the decarbonisation of heavy industry to meet those targets, continue to drive expectations for sector growth.
Aeroplanes will need to shift to clean fuel sources, waste from the high-polluting logistic sector will have to be cut to the bone, and the proportion of ethanol in transport fuels is likely to increase in many places.
The coronavirus pandemic has sharpened government attention on more immediate issues than transport sector reform, with Indonesia and Malaysia pushing back biodiesel blending mandates temporarily and Thailand postponing its ethanol-blending mandate indefinitely. ....

A GARBAGE truck has caught fire and a driver has accidentally driven into a parked vehicle in Alice Springs overnight.
Around 3.30pm, police received a report of a garbage truck on fire while driving on the Tom Brown roundabout.
The truck stopped and shed is load onto South Terrace, with police closing the road while firefighters put the fire out.
No one was injured and the truck sustained minor damage.
It is unknown what caused the fire at this time. ....

The Daimler-owned Dutch auto ABS shelf is seeing new life for the first time in six years with the Silver Arrow Athlon 2021-1, only the seventh Dutch auto deal issued since the financial crisis.
Daimler acquired Athlon Car Lease Nederland in 2016, forming the Dutch Silver Arrow shelf, which compliments the German offering as well as a newly offered French Silver Arrow franchise.
