Slovenia s parl appoints Janez Poklukar new health minister Slovenia National Assembly/All Rights Reserved LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 24 (SeeNews) - Slovenia s parliament said it appointed Janez Poklukar as new health minister, to replace Tomaz Gantar who resigned in December. The nomination of Poklukar for the position of health minister was approved in a 50-31 vote in the 90-seat parliament, the assembly said in a notice on Tuesday. Poklukar is the director of University Medical Centre Ljubljana, the largest hospital in Slovenia. Tomaz Gantar resigned after his Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia (DeSUS) voted to leave the government coalition over political disagreements. Prime minister Janez Jansa has held the duties of health minister since then. ....

Slovenian health minister resigns - report Slovenian health minister Tomaz Gantar/Photo: Slovenian government LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 18 (SeeNews) - Slovenian health minister Tomaz Gantar resigned on Friday, a day after his Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia (DeSUS) voted to leave the government coalition over political disagreements, local media reported. Gantar filed his resignation in line with Thursday s decision of the DeSUS party bodies to exit the coalition and taking into account the party s statutes, public broadcaster RTV Slovenija quoted Gantar as saying in his letter of resignation submitted to prime minister Janez Jansa. Jansa informed the parliament of the resignation and asked the lawmakers to consider it in an urgent manner. In the meantime, Jansa will fulfil the duties of health minister. ....
