April 10, 2021 6:50 PM Marsalis McGhee Updated: The Town of Shelby Fire Department hosted a Live fire training. The house was donated to the fire department almost nine months ago and has been used for various training purposes. The training gives fire departments the chance to practice their skills without anyone or anything being in harm’s way. The live-fire training also gives the opportunity to get some skills that smaller fire departments don’t often get. “A lot of local smaller fire departments, we don’t have a lot of house fires. And a lot of interior fires, we just don’t get the opportunity to train on it. You can only visualize and verbalize so often, you really got to just go in and start doing the work, and today we were able to do that,” said Town of Shelby ....

(WKBT) – The Shelby Fire Department has a new leader and it is a familiar face in the area. Tony Holinka was sworn-in as the Department’s chief late last week taking the oath of office at the station on Ward Avenue.
