REGINA A Regina man who is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of his brother was back in court Friday. Joseph Thauberger was charged on Nov. 29 with first-degree murder, offering an indignity to a human body and uttering threats to a woman between 1997 and 2014. Dr. Patrick Thauberger, 53 at the time, was last seen on Sept. 3, 1997. He was reported missing to police on Sept. 16, 1997. Justice Robertson is the judge who oversaw the hearing and will make the decision if Thauberger will be released on bail. The decision from Joseph Thauberger’s bail hearing will be reserved for a later date. ....

Smith Street Lands proposed buying the property formerly slated to house Capital Pointe, but said it would only do the deal if city council reduced tax penalties on it by about $692,562.60. Those penalties have been accumulating since July 2018. Robert Goldman, president of Smith Street Lands, and lawyers Tony Merchant and Dave Brundige all spoke to council on the request on Wednesday. The bail hearing will be heard at Regina s Court of Queen s Bench because it is the only court that has the jurisdiction to grant someone bail who has been charged with murder. ....
