Man arrested in Georgia, charged with murder in connection with fatal January shooting in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a 35-year-old man in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Thursday in connection with a January murder in Portsmouth.
According to the Portsmouth Police Department, Akime R. Porter was charged with murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Porter is accused of killing 32-year-old Tony Lamont Deans, who was found dead in the 20 block of Merrimac Drive with a gunshot wound to his upper body early in the morning on January 3.
Police asked for help finding Kimberly Vaughan, 49, and an unknown man last week and said in a news release Thursday that they are no longer wanted in connection to the case.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. A man was killed in a Portsmouth shooting Sunday morning and police are looking for answers.
Portsmouth police were called Sunday, Jan. 2 around 12:13 a.m. to the 20th block of Merrimac Drive for a man who was shot in the upper body.
Officers and medics said when they got to the scene they found 32-year-old Tony Lamont Deans, who was pronounced dead.
