Employees, retirees or their family members are getting COVID-19 vaccines at the company s onsite health clinic. The vaccination rate in Wisconsin and nationally has slowed in recent weeks, and public health experts are worried that we re plateauing or even hitting a wall. In an unsettling sign, the state asked for just 8% of the doses that the federal government had set aside for this week, according to The Associated Press.

Atassi errs in attacking Gov DeWine over litter campaign

Atassi errs in attacking Gov. DeWine over litter campaign Updated May 02, 2021; Columnist Leila Atassi’s recent attack on Gov. Mike DeWine for “hypocritically” promoting litter cleanups while not speaking out about coal plant subsidies is unfair (”DeWine throws away a chance to tackle climate change,” April 28). I agree these subsidies are despicable, but DeWine must deal with an insane legislature (which recently cost me a $100 registration fee for driving a hybrid car) who can’t even remove indicted state Rep. Larry Householder from office. This same legislature pressured Ohio Health Director Dr. Amy Acton to leave, and subsequently passed a bill prohibiting the governor from enacting any future health protection orders. DeWine must act cautiously. I admired his leadership during the pandemic immensely and am willing to give him some leeway on this issue.
