The city of South Bend the the Black History Month Committee are honoring 13 local leaders who ve made important contributions to the city s history and culture. âItâs important to recognize our local African-American leaders, who do tremendous work to strengthen our community,â said Mayor James Mueller, in a statement. âI thank the Black History Month committee for celebrating these contributions and the impact the honorees make in South Bend.âa Each of the awardees will be featured on a series of digital billboards and will be honored at the Black History Month Celebration, which will be held virtually at 6 p.m. Thursday. ....
